… But Your Site Must Produce Results.
Your website is a direct reflection of your business. I don’t believe that appearances are everything but I do understand that people do judge books by their covers and your prospective customers are judging your business by what your website looks like – both on their computers and on their mobile phones.
Quick story. I once worked with a dude in the U.K. that owned a digital agency. He would not even talk to a potential client unless the client had 100,000 POUNDS to invest in a website and another 100,000 POUNDS to promote it. Now this guy was incredibly successful and this business model worked very well for him but it isn’t one that I could buy into.
The Plain Truth
I believe that every small business needs to have a website but it doesn’t have to cost a fortune to do what you need it to do. What you need it to do is simply:
- Educate people about what you have to sell and why they should consider buying from you
- Generate sales leads for your business and follow-up with those leads automatically
- Attract free traffic from the search engines
That’s it. Of course, if you actually sell something online you can replace ‘sales leads’ with ‘making sales’ in point #2 but for most small businesses transactions take place off-line.
It is All About Converting Visitors to Customers

It is nice (and necessary) for your site to get sufficient traffic but all that traffic is useless unless your site converts those visitors to sales leads for your business.
